Gag Me

Darleen’s got an excellent post up over at Protein Wisdom, talking about the administration’s attempt to gag Humana health services, while at the same time not prohibiting the kick-back bought AARP from backing their ObamaCare plans, most importantly to eliminate Medicare Advantage, which is an obstacle to their plans. Axelrod’s pathetic attempt to justify the administration’s wish to get rid of Advantage, and not, for example, to rescind barriers to interstate coverage competition, tells you everything you need to know about the game that’s afoot.

Remember that earlier Republicans were denied franking privileges for communiques to constituents characterizing Obama’s proffered health care as “socialized” or even “government-run.” Joe Wilson was admonished for hollering “you lie” to a President who had just accused all and sundry opposed to his health care plan for covering illegals of lying, despite the fact that the Gang of Six had to spend the rest of the evening retroactively making the President’s representation of the plan true.

Characteristically, now that Christopher Andersen’s book demonstrates that Jack Cashill’s claim that Bill Ayers authored Dreams from My Father is true, the administration has pulled the scheduled CNN interview of a major administration figure, because CNN had also scheduled an interview with the author. The administration has also given Gordon Brown the cold shoulder, because he wouldn’t play ball by claiming that Obama knew nothing about the release of the Lockerbie bomber on “humanitarian grounds,” when in fact, despite his expressions of “disappointment” in their decision, the President had been in the loop all along. Goodness knows, Brown had his hands full dealing with the revelation that it wasn’t merely Scotland’s decision, after all.

As I’ve stated before, Obama’s Achilles’ heel is that he’s a douchebag. This clueless Obama-ass-covering journalist at CBS is one, too.

In related news, bailed out banks have been funneling big bucks to ACORN, so maybe this hawala-esque arrangement obviates the need for direct government subsidy. Mind you, this is leaving “Diversity Czar” Mark Lloyd aside, entirely.

Insurance is regulated at the state level. Are you advocating for national regulation, as in federal regulators based in D.C.! Black helicoptering state laws! Uniformity! Czaristication into One! What kind of Communist breakfast food have you digested this morning! Obviously tea has been served in the Duma from the samovar of central power! Pacebo nyet!

You lie. The disclaimer the disallowed non-citizens from participating was already in the bill, black and white, plainly written. What’s that smell? It’s your pants, fire!

Nice try at the snark and usual charges of The Hypocrisy!, but this may very well be a situation where Federalism is called for; inasmuch as this sector represents 1/6th of our GDP and that a major portion of those dollars are spent by the federal government funding “social justice” programs like medicaid as well as pension-esque programs like medicare that people have payed into their whole lives with the expectations of enjoying the protection on the back end of the deal…

And the whole Obamacare-for-illegals assertion you make is the usual poppycock. There was no express prohibition on illegals being in the pool of insured or mandated as such; it simply said that they would enjoy no subsidy…

BTW, non-citizens can already buy private health insurance here, dipshit. Last I checked, Humana, for example, requires nothing more than that they’ve resided here for six-months and the usual physical to check for pre-conditions. They ask for residency status but don’t disqualify you based on that.

And next time don’t be so cavalier in throwing around the “Liar!” charge when it comes to me. I’m a gentleman of impeccible integrity, honesty, and virtue, and woulod trade none of it for cheap political or rhetorical gain!

    • Duece McCoy says:

Not only are you a liar, but you’re a liar who lacks logic in his lies!

Fourth paragraph in your first link. Why is it that when you lie that you think persistently repeating your lie can change the status of your original lie? A failure in your logic is how I’d describe that.

You’re a gentleman of extreme gullibility and a shill for those who’d exploit your gullibility for their own advantage. In less diplomatic terms you’d be referred to as an easy mark, or worse, a sucker. I’m sorry, but it’s true.

Reality and truth are not what you want them to be, but, rather, what they actually are.

  13. Bob Reed says:

Fourth paragraph in your first link.

Yes, you mean where it talks about subsidies? That’s what I’ve been saying to you! While they are not subsidized, they are not barred either. But iguess that’s just a flaw in your logic or reading comprehension…

Try reading the third, fourth, or sixth links; read for understanding please…

And, you know, try not to simple repeat the won’s! talking points; it makes you seem so gullible, so much like…a sucker !

  14. Stoke Johnson says:

Get this through your thick head, illegal immigrants aren’t eligible for long-term care federal health programs under current law. That means they get emergency care only. If you’re such a frickin’ genius and not a dumb wind-up harpy, as I believe you are, then you’d quickly remember this recent news story: http://www.miamiherald.com/news/southflorida/story/1160221.html Try out your comprehension skills on that.

Or maybe you’re confusing persons who have legal non-resident status with illegal aliens. Persons who come here on a student visa or a fiance visa and then marry a U.S. citizen apply for a change of visa status, which can take over a year to approve. These persons would be eligible because their future status is expected to be long-term permanent resident (LPR), which means they’re expected to be a legal resident. The exceptions are what they are, read ‘em for they hardly constitute a loop hole. Persons who are illegal can use the insurance exchange program, as in they can already buy private health insurance, but they can’t participate in a federal program, evidently – so, You Lie!

    http://factcheck.org/2009/07/misleading-gop-health-care-claims/

Quit your desperate bitter clinging. Boring. Predictable. And quit trying to link to other persons who Lie to make your own Lie more believable.

  15. Bob Reed says:

Factcheck.org again, eh? And you talk about bad links?

Why did the senate have to go back and add a proof of citizenship requirement, hmmmm (link 4, hardly a wingered source)?

Before the Senate revised the proposed bill, there was no specific wording that restricted illegal aliens from taking advantage of national healthcare (link 2).

And if you look at page 4 and 6 of the pdf, (link 1), “undocumented aliens” who have a “substantial presence” in the US would be required to buy health insurance through the exchanges in HR3200. They would also become eligible for “emergency Medicaid”…

Now, who’s bitterly clinging, and who’s dealing in facts, playah..? By the way, I hadn’t seen the Miami herald story, thanks for the link…

    And, just a reminder; I.Don’t.Lie!

    That is all…

  16. Hank Blankenship says:

Again, illegal aliens aren’t allowed to participate in long-term federal health care programs, and verification of citizenship was a part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

Are you going to rob a bank if the health care bill passes and it doesn’t explicitly state that robbing banks is against the law? There’s your logic.

If they decided to add additional language to clear things up for the benefit of purple tea drinking droolers then all the better.

Were you flopping around like a fish out of water when the rumors of a whitey tape was all the right-wing rage? How about that backward B victim, were you flopping, fish? You’re on record as being a death panel liar and your missiles as a bargaining chip against the Russians has evaporated like the myth it was, and now you trot out the next right-wing half-truth and ask me to believe you’re not one who lies at a drop of a hat whenever you think it’ll score a dumb political point?

Republicans aren’t relevant anymore, they’re just background noise. That they Lie is why.

  17. Bob Reed says:

Why do you keep changing names?

Anyway, you’re comparing apples and oranges with that bank robbing analogy, and ignoring the facts presented.

The Senate added language because the administration and the Democrats were caught trying to do otherwise, and were forced to clarify it; the light of scrutiny forced the ideological cockroaches to scurry!

And I was flopping at neither of the episodes you mention, but the FCCCR that was passed as part of the stimulus could easily be that, especially in view of that quack Zeke Emmanuel’s buy into that whole complete life smokescreen for deciding who lives and who dies…

And the missiles? Obama has surrendered to the Russians in advance. He should have been a man, like Reagan, and told them to get stuffed. Reagan did so with the Pershing II’s and “star wars”, both ultimately breaking the Soviets and hastening the end of the cold war. The Russian now desperately need to not have to spend the dollars modernizing and mainaining their nuclear arsenal, but instead of keeping the pressure up until they were forced to bargain, Obama hands them a nested doll of gifts; not only does he remove the misiile defense they objected to, with nothing in return, but he also begs them to engage in nuclear reduction talks-telling them he’ll do exactly what they need-with, again, no concession…

For someone who doesn’t use their real name, and surfs using proxies, you throw aroung the “liar” charge awfully easy, as well as assume bad intent on everyone else’s part…

Don’t use the “L” word with respect to me again. I’ve asked you before; I am a gentleman of integrity, virtue, character, and honesty. Find an instance where I’ve lied, I’m big enough to admit when I’m wrong!

    Are you?

  18. Hank Blankenship says:

Why would you care if I called you a liar seeing how you’re so comfortable calling others a liar?

“The Democrats were caught trying to do otherwise…” No, Bob, existing laws remain laws even after this new health care legislation, that was the point of the bank robbing metaphor. Some of our politicians are trying to bring down the cost of medical insurance for the benefit of all, including you, and they’re also attempting this feat at the lowest cost possible to the tax payer. Why then, you should ask yourself, would they purposely include illegal aliens? Talk about assumptions of disingenuous intent, you’re the King.

You’re no better than the average Russian, French or Cuban, you’re simply asshole deluded enough to think you are. The days of the swaggering American imbecile are past. Allies are borne of mutual respect, not from dickish superiority complexes. Obama handled the Russians like a man, and now they’re on our side and willing to discuss sanctions on Iran. Shocker what you can accomplish when you don’t strut around the world stage as if you’re King Prick.

Death panels – you lied. And that lie is a particularly insidious insult for those of us who have had to deal with end of life planning.

    • Enoch_Root says:

Tohr – honestly, you are the dick with a massive superiority complex.

But on a less emotional note: “…that lie is a particularly insidious insult for those of us who have had to deal with end of life planning.” – King dunce – your position on this matter is “borne (sic)” of emotion – and emotion is never a good “reason” to hold a particular view. It is only under the stress of light and logic that arguments are solid.

As for “end of life planning” – leave your insidious euphemisms at the door, you crank. It does not hold sway here.

You have no love of the truf. You have love of self.

      • Brody McCallister says:

If you don’t love yourself you’re not capable of loving others, as the charge goes.

Pigswoggle on your emotive eruption. When they send your loved one home from the hospital not to get well, but to pass, they do thus after a sit-down with the direct family members and the attending doctor. Discussions revolve around topics such as whether to call an ambulance for revival purposes, in other words, my Mom was sent home with what they thought would be two-weeks to a month to live. If she had a stroke or a heart attack, she decided and informed my Dad and us that she didn’t want to be revived. Get it? EOL counseling isn’t a stupid fuckin’ game. It’s a rough day, for all, but it’s necessary, and when a patient has bone cancer to the extent that to breath causes pain, to the extent they’ll never get out of bed again, to the extent that they understand what is happening and accept it, there are issues that need to be discussed.

You hold no sway, you overly political tard, until you’ve been through it. It’s only then that you’ll get it.

        • Enoch_Root says:

as sorry as I am (truly) for what you have been through – and your dad – and your mom as well – seriously, this is not a Barbara Walters special.

the only people who should be involved are the doctor and the patient. if the patient is not capable to make sound decisions, then their stead. If they happen to be religious, then a priest, imam, or rabbi, or shaman might make sense too.

but I hate to say it – the time for decisions in regard to what measures ought to be taken is not when one is on one’s deathbed or nearly there. Especially if these decisions are, as I agree with you, very serious decisions to be made.

the best time to be making decisions like this is definitely NOT when people are emotional and apt to think emotionally. And to suggest a bureaucrat be invited to weigh in – I can think of nothing less dignified. Thank you very little.

You do not know what is best for me. And I am insulted that you think you do.

then, by this “logic” I should hold no opinion on many things.

I have never been aborted. I have never been gassed in a Nazi death camp. I have never been a woman stoned to death in Iran.

          Moron.

  19. Brody McCallister says:

    Bob Reed :

Why do you keep changing names?

    Change is good.

  20. Bob Reed says:

The citizenship verification provisions in the deficit reduction act of 2005 only applied to Medicaid and SCHIP-period; it’s that typical nuance that unless precisely stipulated as illegal, it’s legal! So you can see how that in no way would have applied to Obamacare, a new program that was neither Medicaid, Medicare, nor SCHIP.

Some of our politicians are trying to bring down the cost of medical insurance for the benefit of all, including you, and they’re also attempting this feat at the lowest cost possible to the tax payer. Why then, you should ask yourself, would they purposely include illegal aliens?

That may be true, for some of our politicians. But, for others this is a calculus that is bent on getting as many people reliant on government largesse and support as possible, both in terms of “purchasing” constituents votes and transforming our society into a more socialist and collective one. And still for others it is simply the realization of a long held agenda to try and fit the US into more af a “European” societal model. As far as the desire to include illegals? Some of that concern is rooted in legitimate cost reduction and compassion, that’s true; but the over-riding desire was based in the Democrats cynical courting of illegal aliens as a constituency, and this but the latest in a their efforts to bribe them for their support. After all, it is a fact that in some large “blue states” there is no ID requirements for voting, and where there is, the “motor-voter” laws have polluted the voting pool with many who shouldn’t be enjoying that privilege…

And don’t play a version of the chickenhawk card on me about death panels. I empathize with your experience, and have seen it occur in my own family as well. But the government need not be using the force of law to mandate such living-will counseling outside of the Medicare and VA provisions in place already. Also, as long as complete life philosophy eugenists like Zeke Emmanuel and craven incrementalists like Tom Daschle are involved on a panel that will be deciding how care asstes wilol be distributed, with no recourse to a higher authority or the natural competitive pressures of the marketplace, I will be uncomortable with the FCCCR, the role it is to play, and the authority over life and death matters given it…

As far as your weak foreign policy tea argument? All I’ll ask you is, in a hypothetical business deal involving a competitor, would you willingly surrender all of your advantages and perhaps the realization of an appreciable share of benefit for doing so? I think not…

    So why should we…

Time wil tell if the Russians are more willing to deal cooperate with us on Iran; I for one am suspect though. I believe that they will play a convenient game of realpolitick; acting as though they are with us knowing full well that a Chinese veto will as surely kill any planned ramping up of sanctions as surelu as theirs would. And then they’ll go back to dealing with Iran as always…

You do not know what is best for me. And I am insulted that you think you do.

EOL counseling doesn’t involve a bureaucrat. What they are referring to is approving payment to doctors who bill for their time, even to counsel their patients. When the doctor counsels the patient, the patient decides who else they want in the room during counseling, not you, nor any bureaucrat. I’ve been through this twice, sadly, and when the doctor sends a patient home with only hospice care the patient and the family have a lot of questions for the doctor, for example what symptoms to look for that indicate the end is near.

We all pass. Some choose to stay in the hospital, most wish to go home and be with family and familiar surroundings, some want lots of morphine while some want only a little, etc.., etc… The worse scenario is no EOL counseling, no booklets that explain what happens in the last days, wild expectations, no one knowing what to expect, etc…

The time to revisit EOL counseling is, of course, when the patient understands their condition and prognosis, not merely when they’re healthy and believe they’ll live forever, so you’re plain wrong on that point as well. When you have terminal cancer it doesn’t mean you can’t think straight. Most people fight cancer for a year or more after initial diagnosis.
