Josh Gerstein poses the interesting question vis-a-vis Mr. Obama’s comportment; that is, “What if Bush had done that?”
A four-hour stop in New Orleans, on his way to a $3 million fundraiser.
Snubbing the Dalai Lama.
Signing off on a secret deal with drug makers.
Freezing out a TV network.
Doing more fundraisers than the last president. More golf, too.
President Barack Obama has done all of those things — and more.
What’s remarkable is what hasn’t happened. These episodes haven’t become metaphors for Obama’s personal and political character — or consuming controversies that sidetracked the rest of his agenda.
But others say there’s a larger phenomenon at work — in the story line the media wrote about Obama’s presidency. For Bush, the theme was that of a Big Business Republican who rode the family name to the White House, so stories about secret energy meetings and a certain laziness, intellectual and otherwise, fit neatly into the theme, to be replayed over and over again.
Obama’s story line was more positive from the start: historic newcomer coming to shake up Washington. So the negatives that sprung up around Obama — like a sense that he was more flash than substance — track what negative coverage he’s received, captured in a recent “Saturday Night Live†skit that made fun of his lack of accomplishments in office.
Make sure you read the whole thing. Especially ponder the list of stories that the President has gotten a pass on, and remember that the source of this reportage is definitely no bastion of wingnuttery. And Mr. Obama’s opponents shoud take some refuge in the reporters observation that the press’ friendly tone is ebbing.

“Make sure to read the whole thing! Politico is no bastion of wingnuttery!” Goopey doopey!
If you’ll recall I stated Politico is a slightly conservative media group while you (or maybe it was some other right-wing dumb-rod, who can really say) argued otherwise. Politico has one of their journos on Morning Joe just about every morning, one tends to get a feel for their politics by reading and watching the words spill out of their horse’s mouths. But no!!! MSNBC is tey enemy! Cover eyes! Cover ears! No speaky!
So now here you are hips-a-wiggling sucking-up and selling Politico’s ass juice. Why? Oh yeah, their a vast network of wild-eyed left-wing freaks who for a moment agree with your adolescent never ending conspiracy tropes?
Not.
Douche rocket, baby Boooooosh wasn’t a very good President. Get over it, a-hole. That he sucked was no fault of the media; he simply fuckin’ sucked.
Scarborough has a lot of liberals on his morning show. And when politico started out, they may have been center-right, but have, how shall we say, drifted left over time.
And I’m not selling their ass juice, just listing another example of scales falling from eyes; of peole starting to believe they can really speak trooooooof! to pow-ah…
Obama’s over-rated. The media’s covered for him for an unprecedented amount of time. But, as Fox cashes in on their objectivity, the rest are realizing they’d better get out of the ass-juice business, and back into the trooooof! business…
It won’t get a whole lot easier for yo’ boy, politically speaking, from here on out. I hope you’ve enjoyed the free ride…

Maybe this will help you with Afghanistan. It’s a little less of the cry-baby, victim-of-tey-media, girly bullshit that you worship, but it’s pretty good.
Yeah I’ll be posted another interesting report on the way forward in Afghanistan later today, so stay tuned! Maybe I’ll linkie that twinkie, you know, for the right kind of winky-winky…
