Recall Them All [UPDATED]
Yeah, I know that there are people on "my side" who are going to call me a nut, but I think that everyone who opposes what's on the legislative agenda in Congress ought to begin a petition drive for a recall election for their Congresscritter. Apart from doing whatever's necessary to defeat the Taliban and Hekmatyr in Afghanistan, there's nothing on the slate of proposed legislation that I'm aware of that I think is essential, and there's an awful lot of sheer crap.
So, what better way of tying things up than to make serious noises and perhaps more about recalling all of these people, just to give them a reminder of for whom they work. A huge majority of Americans don't want this insane POS health care bill that they're not even willing to show us, that they claim they won't read because it's too complex to understand, that they will try to attach to other legislation, that they will attempt to invoke cloture on, that will cost many times what's projected, that will lead to poorer care, that will replace the judgments of doctors with those of bureaucrats and will earn the curses of generations of those abused, and still the lapdog MSM will lie through their teeth to polish this steaming pile of feculant filth, whose stench offends the very nostrils of the gods.
Those Senators in particular think they'll be able to pass this malodorous dogpile and have, what, 3 or 5 years to make people forget. And Obama doesn't want some provisions to go into effect until 2013, when he calculates, insanely, that he's going to be beginning a second and final term, despite what some wannabe dictators would like. Well, fuck 'em, Bucky. Those morons in the House can't get rid of Rangel? Bring them home on bended knee to explain themselves . . . all of them.
Look at this shite. What's going to happen in your state with unfunded mandates when Obama's through pissing away the "Stimpulus Package," only 10 percent of which has been spent so far, but which will shackle us all with debt for decades? Get these assholes out of DC before they cause us any more harm and back home doing what they do best: grubbing for money.
Reset? You bet.
UPDATE: This is how it's done, re Wisconsin's Feingold and Kohl.

Hmmm – must run in the family – but I am thinking the surest way to relieve them of their duties might just be to take a pay out of our founding fathers’ playbook. I mean, at the risk of sedition, the current System resembles nothing of the one I have sworn my allegiance to. I mean, the Flag represents certain ideals – a high-minded set of freedoms – and as these are diminished, the ideals stand firm – as does my allegiance. And since I have sworn myself to the flag, critters who would threaten it and all it stands for could be considered enemies.

Cite one specific example where your freedoms have been diminished in the past 9-months.
This should be good.

ok – but just one. we are no longer permitted to send our 7 year old to school with a peanut butter sandwich in his lunch box. You know, on account of one kid in a different grade altogether being allergic to peanuts.
but – oddly, I don’t think I mentioned that I have only felt this way for the past ObamaNueveMeses. I distinctly recall holding this same view for going on 9 or 10 years, pen15is baggus.
why do you presume to presume, simple order-taker?

Apparently not – we have to wait until they’re gone to actually complain about them.

Dan, I agree with your sentiments, but don’t think that they could be removed quickly enough to stop either this charade or the cap-n-tax bill that’ll be next on the agenda.
But you are correct that they need to be held accountable for these particularly bad pieces of legislation, but for perpetuating the culture of corruption by refusing to unseat Rangel; but Wilson had to be disciplined on the floor of the House chamber for calling Obama on an actual lie!
It is truly a tail-wagging-the-dog state of affairs, and I almost wonder whether Jonah Goldberg has a point when he says that the size of Congress needs to be expanded so that these putzes would have to answer more directly to people in their community…

Oh, I think that if they get wind that there is a serious recall petition drive in the offing, most of them will do what’s most important to them and try to protect their power and prestige. It’s time to play hardball.

Congresscritters at play:
As Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates and cutlery and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. With Gaviglio on Dodd’s lap, Kennedy jumps on top and begins rubbing his genital area against hers, supporting his weight on the arms of the chair. As he is doing this, Loh enters the room. She and Gaviglio both scream, drawing one or two dishwashers. Startled, Kennedy leaps up. He laughs. Bruised, shaken and angry over what she considered a sexual assault, Gaviglio runs from the room. Kennedy, Dodd and their dates leave shortly thereafter, following a friendly argument between the senators over the check.
Chris Dodd and Teddy Kennedy. Absolute power corrupts absolutely doesn’t.

Yes. I didn’t feel this way before yesterday, but yes. Republicans in Congress have had too long already now to grow a solid backbone on this. They’ve left it mostly up to the grass roots.
I want ‘em out.
(Except for my congressman, Thad McCotter. He’s good. lol)

One little problem with your plan…
There is no Constitutional provision for “recall” of Congressmen or Senators. They may leave office four ways:
1) Expiration of term. (20th Amendment, ¶ 1)
2) Expiration of life.
3) Resignation.
4) Involuntary removal by 2/3 vote of the members of the chamber. (Art. I, § 5, ¶ 2)
No one else has any power to remove a sitting member of Congress, even if he is convicted of a crime and sentenced to a prison term. This is by deliberate design, to assure the independence of the three branches of government.

I wonder about the legality of having a candidate sign an undated resignation letter and deposit it in a special lockbox that can be opened by 9/12 keys given to a committee of respected community members empowered to open the box if he ever breaks a campaign promise.
