In a 60-39 vote Senate Democrats blocked a measure that would require census takers to ask people whether or not they were US citizens. Opponents claimed the additional question would dramatically increase costs, since a separate survey already gathers that data. Hmmmmm, maybe I’m wrong, but mightn’t it be less expensive overall to add the question to the census and dispense with a completely separate survey; at least for next year?
Just sayin’
