Avatar – the Greatest Movie Evah?

Not so much.

Went this weekend with Mutt and two of James Shore’s kids.

Parking sucked. Theater was packed. Sat toward the front.

Special Effects were very cool. And the movie is worth seeing just for this reason alone. Saw it in 3-D.

Acting was fine.

Storyline was predictable. SPOILERS BELOW:

1) evil mining corporation driven purely by greed uses mercenaries (former marines) to “convince” the First Peoples to “relocate” so as the mineral deposit situated directly under the Home Tree (utopia) can be exploited.
2) handicapped vet is a company man until he sees the error of his ways – then, as “unlikely” hero goes on to save day
3) Native People are thoughtful, contemplative Pagans – who live in complete harmony with nature.
4) Native Peoples are also – if they weren’t nude pagans – likely to represent the oppressed Muslims who live in lands rich with oil
5) A kick ass, completely hot Latina chick

6) Scientist Anthropologist (with mad skills in the area of growing bodies of Native Peoples in vats and enabling handicapped human guy to possess said body) is completely above reproach…
7) evil Security Chief – hardened JarHead – will stop at nothing to destroy the Native People’s
8 ) Industrialist Manager and minions cannot appreciate the superiority of the Native People’s way of life.
9) Defiant, poorly-armed Natives with help of Gaia, send the humans packing.
10) peace returns to the virgin land.

I just saved you $10 per head.

I give it a 3.5 of 5 stars.

UPDATE: Waterhouse sez Michelle Rodriquez looks like a “slightly effeminate dude” – I tend to disagree…

I don’t usually go to the theather because I get nervious around a lot people but I think I’ll give this one a shot because people are saying that it’s even better on the big screen, I think it might be in 3D.
