Well said, sir. The ideologues hate Sarah and would do so even if they could tell what she does or does not “understand” about public issues. But they can’t tell; she isn’t transparent to them in their omniscience. Like certain other politicians, she comments from a common sense viewpoint and reshapes arguments with sometimes-naive freshness. Refutations always carry the risk that the interlocutor’s real agenda will be exposed (as it it isn’t already). So, the only thing to do is to resort to venal personality detraction. By the time 2012 rolls around, Americans may have grown to like Sarah, but the reality is that whatever we have learned about her will be real. Should we care what she “knows”? Probably, but we have a good long time to observe her on the political scene before we have decisions to make. Let’s be patient about this. Meanwhile, the President’s charade will play itself out more fully and we’ll finally also comprehend what we ought to have discerned in the months prior to the last election.

Oh, but they hate her so. Marvel at this and the 6000 comments in a single day.

  4. Darcy says:

    Brilliant. Thank you.

I loved that update from Jerry’s blog, Dan. His piece was so dead on as well. I really resent the fact that what I believe I see so clearly and try to point out to the attackers on the right is received as defense from a crazy “fan” who believes she can do no wrong.

It’s getting so old. I’m not backing down though. The criticism of Palin is mostly petty and she is held to a standard it seems that I’ve never seen before by critics on the right. I hope they get a clue.

    • Dan Collins says:

Thanks, Darcy. This was an Enoch post. The more they go after her on specious grounds—whatever pretext will serve their ravenous hatred—the more powerful she grows.

She’s not my ideal presidential candidate, but I’m deeply offended by the vitriol that’s directed at her. For what?

Lori Z’s post today at NewsReal is all over it.

  7. Darcy says:

The thing is, she is not my ideal presidential candidate either. I like her in this watchdog/motivational speaker role very much, though.

I did mean the first reply to Enoch! :)

Interesting post. Not sure I totally agree. The purpose of zen is to arrive at a place of enlightenment. I don’t think that’s the governmental archetypes of this age. Thanks for the opinion though.

My Minnesota brother laughs laughs laughs and says fuck yeah I’ll vote for Pawlenty before Palin.

He really isn’t a big Pawlenty fan as these things go.

But you guys go ahead and vote your tribe.

  10. happyfeet says:

um… meaning except for don and Mr. Dan.

I really should read all the other comments first, no?

But I’ll rescue my faux pas and jump out there and say but damn thor don’t got him a radar.

He was much more right about Palin than the blogs I go to were.

I’ll take vitriol over idolatry any day I think.

  11. happyfeet says:

oh. except for Darcy, too. Darcy made me work for it though.

Not that I’m not glad she did.

I perform with these dogs and as far as animal behavior goes, I am a firm believer in nurture and coaching. I’ve met Jack Russell Terriers that I wouldn’t go around once again, but have certainly not had a poor expertise with an American Staffordshire Terrier. If you’re talking about their owners- nicely, that’s a different story. Human beings are creatures as well, and we tend to every have our personal suggestions about “moral concepts”.
