Don’t Worry – We’ll Give you Five
SanityInspector's post at PW caught my eye - in part because I am an ego-centric, prideful ass-hat... but also because I think he nails where I was for many days... resisting the inevitable conclusion (in my opinion) of islamic interloping into the West's meatspace.

Beyond SI's great piece about the dangers of going down the Logic Hole (and his trepidation surrounding doing just that), the following comment stopped me in my tracks (as much as having SI even notice my little post):

Jihad begets crusade a surely as day follows night. We are only human. Still.
I don't know what to add. Really. This is the truth of it: eventually we will be forced to pick sides. I am sure of it... and eventually we will be forced to join in the fracas. And eventually we will be forced to defend ourselves, our loved ones, and our treasures (and I do not mean the ones which can be stored).
So, Clan O'Coileain makes this commitment to you, dear Reason and Truth: My wife and I will continue to raise our Five (5) Crusaders - Defenders of the Faith. Defenders of the West's Cumulative Wisdom. Defenders of the Light that is clear thought and critical thinking.
We make this commitment to you and yours, Dear Reader, so that when the time that is coming arrives yours might not be lost to the Black Tide... so that your flesh and blood might have solid soldiers standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them, bleeding with them... and yes, if necessary, dying with them.
How much for Liberty? Me and mine... we give freely so that others might enjoy what we ourselves have not ourselves earned and do not deserve to be able to claim as our own. It is not, perhaps, free afterall.
Boston Area Schoolchildren Proselytized, Lied To, During Field Trip to Mega-Mosque
Andy McCarthy has the story at NRO:
Here is the story. A sixth grade class in Wellesley, Massachusetts, was dragged by their teachers to the notorious Roxbury mosque — the $15 million Saudi-funded, minareted Islamic center started by Abdurrahman Alamoudi (now serving a 23-year terrorism sentence) and run by the Muslim American Society (the quasi-official arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States). Capitalizing on the goo that passes for “social studied” curricula, parents were told the “field trip” was “to learn about the architecture of the mosque and observe a midday prayer service.” One parent was concerned enough to volunteer as a chaperone and bring along a camera.
The result is stunning: an unabashed exercise in Islamic dawa, the “call to Islam” and the manner by which the Brotherhood’s spiritual guide, Yusuf Qaradawi, promises that Islam will “conquer America” and “conquer Europe.” Qaradawi — wonder of wonders — is a trustee of the Roxbury mosque (although he is banned from the U.S. for sanctioning terrorism). As the video relates, “Dawa Net,” one Islamic organization that instructs on how to use the schools to inculcate the young, explains that public schools in America are “fertile grounds where the seeds of Islam can be sowed inside the hearts of non-Muslim students.”

Eleanor Holmes Norton has some 'splainin' to do:
This is, uh, Eleanor Norton, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. Uh, I noticed that you have given to uh, other colleagues on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. I am a, um, Senior Member, a twenty year veteran and am Chair of the Sub-committee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management. I’m handling the largest economic development project in the United States now, the Homeland Security Compound of three buildings being built on the uh, old St. Elizabeth’s hospital site in the District of Columbia along with uh, fifteen other, uh, sites here for, that are part of the stimulus .
I was, frankly, uh, uh, surprised to see that we don’t have a record, so far as I can tell, of your having given to me despite my uh, long and deep uh, work. In fact, it’s been my major work, uh, on the committee and sub-committee it’s been essentially in your sector.
I am, I’m simply candidly calling to ask for a contribution. As the senior member of the um, committee and a sub-committee chair, we have (chuckles) obligations to raise, uh funds. And, I think it must have been me who hasn’t, frankly, uh, done my homework to ask for a contribution earlier. So I’m trying to make up for it by asking for one now, when we particularly, uh, need, uh contributions, particularly those of us who have the seniority and chairmanships and are in a position to raise the funds.
I’m asking you to give to Citizens for Eleanor Holmes Norton, PO Box 70626, DC, 20024. I’ll send you a follow-up note with appreciation for having heard me out. Thanks again.
Wisconsin waives responsibility for soldiers' voting:
Uniformed about the wavier provision? Hardly. Wisconsin didn’t deserve one and the Pentagon rightfully denied it.
There is something we admit to being entirely uniformed about, for now – what other nonsense the Wisconsin legislature had time to take up other than protecting military voting rights. Kennedy bristled: “the Legislature did not have time to fully study changing its primary date for the November 2010 election.” Really? Be glad we are uninformed on this point, because if Wisconsin is anything like Maryland, a whole lot of nonsense passed instead of military voting protections. But, hey, we’re willing to take on that project and look into what the other priorities were in Wisconsin if you want us too. But be careful what you wish for, with the mood the country is in, you might not like the results.
Wisconsin plans on looking at military voting rights “very carefully in 2011.” How nice. Who’s going to let the soldiers know it wasn’t real important in 2010?
More "it ain't law if it ain't enforced":
The Obama administration has begun implementing a backdoor amnesty through selective enforcement of U.S. immigration law.
A leaked internal memorandum from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) -- part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) -- entitled “Administrative Alternatives to Comprehensive Immigration Reform” revealed a series of “deferred action” plans to sidestep legislative requirements.
Related would be Reid's push to provide student loans and a path to citizenship for illegal alien students. That pesky 10th Amendment.

Change That Matters
What do you do when your unsinkable party realizes it has hit an ice berg and is going to sink hard and fast? Easy; you queue cue the band and rearrange the deck chairs. The Democratic Party has announced they are doing just that; by changing their logo and their motto.
It's almost as if they're trying to help the RNC push their contentious primaries into the history books by saying, "Look, we don't have a clue either!" You're doing a heckuva job, Howie D.
Cash quote from RNC spokesman Doug Heye, ""There is no surer sign of the Democrats lack of ideas and lack of a coherent message than for the DNC to promise an announcement that would change the election an then unveil a new logo."

I Guess She Gets To Keep Her Head
So I'm strolling through the Mail Online because I enjoy their take on U.S. goings on. There is an article about LeAnnRimes and Eddie Cibrian and I was going to write a post about cheating and how I don't feel sorry for how either of them feels....they are reaping what they sowed and blah blah yada yada....but then I saw there was an article about Heidi Montag and her boobs and figured I could just post a link to that and not have to write anything...those pics for sure speak for themselves. Then I see this Angie and Johnny in a movie together finally, and was going to write about that and my opinion of Angie playing Scarpetta.....but then, then, I saw THIS and knew it was the one for me. What drew me to the headline was "After 3 girls he's finally got a boy." Um, okay. So I read the thing ( I love Jamie Oliver BTW, in case you were wondering) and he goes on and on about how he doesn't really care what flavor it is, as long as it's healthy BUT he lives in a house full of estrogen and if this time he didn't get a boy they would adopt one. Um, okay.
Now, I gave a daughter up for adoption and people who adopt have my undying gratitude.....but this entire article gave me the creeps. Finally, he got a boy...what are the girls...filler? Are we still in a place were having kids is great...but having BOY kids is the goal? Don't get me wrong, I love boys...I have 4 nephews and they are all precious (don't tell them I said that because for some reason it makes them all roll their eyes) but so is my niece. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive...and I'm not discounting the possibility....but reading this article sounds as if there were just no steps Jamie wouldn't take to have that boy......and I got an image of Jools being beheaded and replaced because of her inability to provide a male heir to the throne.
Are we really still in that place as humans where boy babies are what we get excited about and girl babies are....."well, as long as she's healthy"? Really? That's just sad.
It’s Not Easy to Be Human
Levin
I was driving on the freeway some years back when I came over the crest of a hill. It was rush hour and I started to tap my brakes to warn the cars behind me. My fears were confirmed when I saw a truck at a dead stop in my lane. I checked my review mirror as I slowed down, looking for a possible escape route. What I saw was a driver doing her make-up. She bumped me while I was going about 30mph. Luckily, I was able to stop and she came to a screeching halt as well. We pulled to the shoulder. I got out concerned not with my car but with whether she was ok. I couldn't believe my ears when she got out of her car and started to berate me. I became angry. She ran into me. She was not paying attention. I had even tried to waive her off - but she was running too close behind. It was an interesting exchange. Instead of backing from her indefensible position, she persisted in her attacks - digging her heels in. I do not understand when people double-down when they are clearly in check-mate.
It is a very, very common characteristic among the Left.
It is sad Mark Levin has stooped to such a place.
He owes Patterico an apology. And a small man he is if he doesn't do so. It is not easy to apologize. I get it. But, Mark, this is beneath you. And part of me knows you know that. So, just stop. Take a deep breath. Count to ten. We all stumble once in a while. But a man knows when he is wrong and makes amends when he finds the darker side of himself has taken him somewhere he doesn't want to be. I promise you will be able to repair this bridge if you are willing to deal in good faith. And you will be humbled, grow as a person, and likely grow some fans in the process. It's hard to walk the walk all the time. I get it. And so do other honest people. None is perfect. So, do the right thing, Mark. And, please don't double-down again.
Life is not easy. We all make mistakes. But Patterico is not your enemy. Be a man, Mark. Live up to the person you are called to be.

A Little Bit Regarding Opinions Here, and Christine O’Donnell [UPDATED]
As a result of a few communications criticizing things that other bloggers here have posted recently, I want to take the time to say a few things that I had hoped might be obvious.
The first is, just because someone here posts something doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with it. That's true even if I don't express any reservations. I think, for example, that I've made it clear that I disagree with Enoch regarding the burning of Korans, although I am sensible of the fact (and fact I believe it to be) that we lose our rights if we fail to exercise them. Justice Breyer's stupidity in saying that Koran burning may not be protected political speech just demonstrates. Still and all, I am against the burning of any book whatsoever, with the possible exception of Meghan McCain's, for her own benefit.
Second, let's take the example of Christine O'Donnell. I don't believe that it serves conservatives in the long run (and it is a long run, God willing) to support RINOs just so that they can have control either of the Senate or the House. On the other hand, I am concerned about this particular candidate outside of any ideological considerations, for several reasons. The lawsuit she filed leads me to believe that she might well arrive in Congress, if elected, with the sense of entitlement that we all disdain. Her slipperiness regarding advanced studies at Princeton is worrisome. Her failure to state forthrightly that the issue of Castle's sexual preference was a red herring bothers me. If electing people who claim allegiance to conservative principles in the abstract means that we overlook concrete evidence of duplicity, you can count me out.
Having said that, I will readily admit that I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to the race, because (and please forgive me if this seems incredibly stupid) I've found other issues more immediately compelling. Still, I urge you, particularly if you do post here, to take a look at all the facts at your disposal and dare to be critical, whether or not that seems to you liable to "split the base," or whatever. Once Tea Partiers begin to countenance the sorts of shenanigans that Republicans do, they have become just another flag in the fray. I would like to believe that it is more.
In the past few days, I've seen Tea Party advocates tear viciously into people such as Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer. By all means, be critical of everything; I'm not going to mealy-mouth about big tents or any of that other nonsense. Please do give due consideration to what they say, though, seeing as they've been your allies up until a few days ago. For God's sake, listen closely and judge reasonably. If you don't, you've already become as arrogant as the Republican establishment you hope to supplant.
Don't let that happen. Please.
I've said a couple of times that some of the lefty critiques of conservative reaction to the GZ Mosque might make sense, if we didn't know what we do about Imam Rauf and company. Does the same hold true for O'Donnell? I'm honestly asking.
