A Couple of Blogging-Related Tab Dumps and Praise for “The Delivery”

Because, layers and layers of fact checkers:

New Jersey’s state Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that legal protections allowing journalists to keep sources confidential do not apply to individuals posting to online message boards. This decision is the latest development in an ongoing debate over the blurring lines between mainstream journalists and the growing number of bloggers who are sharing their opinions and reporting news via the Internet.

Bill would criminalize embedding copyrighted video without permission:

A very dangerous bill is coming up for vote soon in the senate called SB 978. The bill was introduced and sponsored by Senators Klobuchar, Cornyn, and Coons. Senate Bill 978 seeks to define a civil violation as a criminal felony, making the embedding of a YouTube video that is viewed by more than 10 people in a 180-day period worth 5 years in federal prison.

Remember that "Friday" video you posted and embedded last month on your facebook, the RIAA wants you in jail for that. I know what you are thinking..."this bill will never pass, it is so draconian." I just want you to know, the bill was introduced by a Democrat and has bipartisan support. Also our sitting president is the darling of the RIAA thanks to maxed out campaign contributions.

Meanwhile, though, Jimmie Bise is approaching his 100th podcast on The Delivery. He is right to regard episode #97 as special. If you missed it, go listen or download for when you're driving around this weekend.

#Weinergate: Ace on Patterico’s Part III

Read it, then go to Patterico:

And so here's a 17 year old. Likes to talk about sex publicly on Twitter. Pretty cute. Kind of girl you'd like if you were yourself 17 years old, and not a particularly handsome sort of 17 year old, but an awkward, skinny funny-looking kind of guy. Girl that that awkward, skinny, funny-looking 17 year old never could have gotten.

But now she says she "loves" him. And he does enjoy the validation of infatuated women.

Who doesn't?

But she's not a woman. She's a 17 year old girl. She is, for legal purposes, a child.

In the Manslaughter theory, he never says anything legally actionable in his private communications with her -- and yes, he seems to have had them. Rather, he just enjoys the crush-vibes he gets from her, flattered that a pretty young thing could be in "love" with a still-not-confident-and-mature boy-man like him.

Sure, he deflects away her serious protestations of love, but he doesn't say anything legally actionable. He just... enjoys the flattery of a pretty 17 year old who's in love with him.

Perfectly innocent.

Except it's not innocent. It's not innocent.

Because there is no one reading this right now who, if I were to suggest a similar scenario with an adult just seeking out their daughter's private attention, doing nothing actually illegal but just enjoying the fact the girl had a major league crush on him... well, there would be problems. Real problems.

A couple of other excellent posts at Pat's: Lee Stranahan's about the Breitbart laptop lie and how the left spread it, and Aaron Worthing on hypocrisy.

If hypocrisy is your thing, though, here you go:

Rep. Anthony Weiner overconfidently sent emails -- to his porn star pal Ginger Lee, no less -- mocking former Senator Larry Craig's bathroom sex scandal ... just 2 weeks before Weinergate exploded.

He goes on to insinuate that his Twitter troll was gay.

And that leads us to this Washington Times headline: Weiner reiterates his stance: He will not resign

A swelling gaggle of Democrats and Republicans this week has called for Mr. Weiner to resign, including Rep. Allyson Y. Schwartz of Pennsylvania, a top official with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and U.S. Senate candidate and former Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine.

But Melanie Sloan, executive director of the D.C.-based watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said it’s unfair to lump Mr. Weiner together with other politicians tainted by sex scandal.

“I think people are incredibly hypocritical and just use this for political purposes,” she said. “Vitter committed a crime, and John Ensign’s conduct was reprehensible, and both of those people were actually having sex. And I don’t understand why this case was worse than those cases.”

A new poll suggests the lawmaker’s constituents may be willing to overlook his problems. Fifty-six percent of registered voters in Mr. Weiner’s New York’s 9th Congressional District don’t think he should resign from the House, while 33 percent say he should, according to results of a Wednesday poll conducted jointly by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion and NY1, a New York City cable news channel.

I guess they believe A. Weiner represents them well.

Thanks to Stacy and Bob Belvedere

for touting Douchecanoe Diaries here and here. I know that there are a lot of people who've written about Joanie Baloney, so I'm surprised nobody's sent me anything yet, but still hopeful.

I'm liable to be scarce around here for a couple of days, as I'm working on a project and have to take Aidan to White River Junction tomorrow, so feel free to post whatever you like.

Whatever you do, do not click on this link.

It’s All …Anyonebutme’s Fault.

Anyonebutme is THE most obnoxious person on the planet. He forces people to do stupid and sometimes heinous things and when it's over the person has this look of of "what the hell did I just do" on their face. But they seem to immediately get that it was Anyonebutme and commence to blame them.

And it's not just sleezy male politicians cheating on their wives or tappin' their feet in the airport, it's everyday folks too. Anyonebutme is an equal opportunity asshole.

For instance, most of you know I work in customer service, for a major company I am not allowed to mention on blogs and/or social media sites. All day long I listen to people tell me how our sales people TALKED THEM INTO buying the 55 inch watchamacalit when what they really wanted was the 42 inch whosyawhatsis and it's Anyonebutme's fault that it took them 7 months to figure it out and why wont you take it back.

But today....today I have finally heard it all. A man called me to tell me that he bought a thingamabob from my company last week and the delivery was set for today. 2 times during that time frame my company called him while he was driving and he answered the calls. Now it turns out that the state in which he lives frowns on that, to the point where you can end up with a VERY expensive ticket. Well he got a ticket BOTH times. And it was Anyonebutme's problem and just what was I going to do about it?

Well, those of you who follow me on twitter or know me personally can probably guess what I told him.....but I did thank him for calling and told him to have a nice day. :)

Sheesh...does NO ONE EVER take responsibility for their own actions anymore? *crickets*

This is the reason that customer service agents seem so cranky ........ :)

Beer Floats Tonight.

Dede

Sometimes stuff rumbles around in my brain that's longer than 140 characters and, well......twitlonger just seems like cheating. :)

Your Black Muslim Bakery Principal, 2 Others Guilty of Murder

I wonder whose violent rhetoric is behind this:

A jury has just convicted former Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV for the 2007 murder of journalist Chauncey Bailey.

Bey IV, 25, faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole when he is sentenced July 8.

Bailey, 57, was the first journalist killed over a domestic story in the United States since 1976, when Don Bolles of the Arizona Republic died in a car bombing

The jury of seven men and five women began deliberations in the Bailey case May 23 after nine weeks of testimony from more than 50 witnesses.

3/4 of likely voters favor picture ID to be shown at polls.

Just in case you hadn't gotten the memo, it turns out that race baiting is used to mask election fraud.

Ace on Patterico’s Evidence

You can read his speculations here and here. They make sense to me. However there's a key piece of evidence that Ace is withholding, that I am in a position to reveal.

The Look of Lies

From @impeachtheidiot

The look of lies
Is in your eyes
A look your tears can't disguise
The look of lies
It's saying so much more
Than words could ever say
And you are so skeezy
That it takes my breath away.

And it seems to me that he lived his life
With his candle in the wind--
Never knowing whom to text to
When the urge set in.

And she offered once to blow him,
But she was just a kid--
The scandal came down well before
The visit ever did.

Hmmm. Rudy's running, according to Bill Kristol. He's got some baggage, but he's also got name recognition, and given the people who've thrown their hats in, he may be the least objectionable to the greatest number of people who wish to prevent Obama from another four years. *shudder*

Little Anthony and the Imperials provide welcome relief from Little Anthony the (Formerly) Imperious.

For anyone who's looking for pics of Weiner's Sextresses, here are the ones documented so far. If someone wanted an easy video project, they could slideshow them all over "Going Out of My Head."

Issa Plays Hardball with Holder, DoJ

Scandal in the Wind:

While the entire world watched Weiner weep for the cameras about his probable porn addictions, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) filed subpoenas against the Department of Justice, potentially charging Eric Holder and company with Obstruction of Justice.

The reason, according to the Daily Caller, is because “the Obama administration still hasn’t complied with Issa’s requests for documents or a subpoena he issued on April 1. Before Attorney General Eric Holder appeared at a Judiciary Committee, DOJ supplied several documents that were already public.”

The DOJ also allowed Issa’s investigative team to “view several heavily redacted documents in DOJ headquarters, but wouldn’t allow his team to take them back to the committee for further inspection.”

The documents the DOJ provided were “so redacted you weren’t sure there was writing underneath.”

So on the day of Weinergate, Rep. Issa announced the June 13 hearings to examine whether DOJ is required to respond to a “lawfully issued and valid Congressional subpoena.”

According to Sipsey, Issa's team have decided to break the Gunwalker investigation into three parts, using under-oath testimony to break the stonewall by stages.

"After Phase III is done, the next step will be a Special Prosecutor with broad powers to get at the rest of the truth and proffer charges against some of the highest officials in the land," said another source. "Eric Holder is toast," he added. "If he stays out of federal prison, I'll be surprised."

I haven't the vaguest idea who "another source" might be, but I suggest you read the piece. And don't buy this Weinergate-comes-at-worst-possible-time-for-Democrats crap; they're just getting their blame Weiner talking points prepped.

Hit me.

Another must read is Trevor Loudon's piece on Panetta's curious associates. Whether you think there's something there or not, you have to agree that it's incumbent on Senators to ask the questions during the hearings, even though that will spur cries of McCarthyism, as always.

Worm turns in Wisconsin:

The Assembly voted Wednesday to end the state's early-release program for prisoners and repay more than $200 million for lawmakers' illegal raid of a medical malpractice fund four years ago.

Under another measure lawmakers passed, police would no longer have to track their traffic stops to identify whether racial profiling is happening.

The state would pay $235 million to the medical malpractice fund by June 30, 2012, under one of the bills. The state Supreme Court last year ordered the money repaid after finding that in 2007 state officials had illegally raided $200 million from the fund, which is intended to compensate victims of medical malpractice and their families.

Lawmakers included an additional $35 million in the bill to cover interest. The exact amount of interest owed ultimately would have to be decided by the courts.

The measure passed 84-12, with 26 Democrats joining all Republicans in voting for it.

Note that the Journal-Sentinel characterizes the raid as illegal. Well, someone voted for it. How was that allowed to happen, and . . . shouldn't someone be held accountable?
