D-Bag Cult-Son Threatener of Little Miss Attila Indicted on Grand Theft Auto, Identity Theft, Fraud Charges

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

You know, if someone hijacked my identity, I'd push for Grand Theft Identity. Unless he paid my bills.

The Unseemly Gloating Speculation About the End of Weiner’s Marriage

When a hack politician loses his job for ridiculous and/or disgusting behavior, more the lying in this case than anything else, it's fair game in my book. It can even be funny, as my friend @seedubya notes, the way most catastrophes that befall people whom we dislike are. But when people start to contemplate with glee the possible end of that politician's marriage, assuming he wants to keep it, that's really pretty vile.

Are conservatives pro-family? Do most of us regard marriage as a sacrament and a sacred covenant? If we do, it's reproachful for us to carry on this way.

SONNET 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Now, that's pretty sly. On the surface, it's very idealistic, very neo-Platonic. But if you examine the language very carefully, you'll find that it is deliberately designed to create loopholes, in anticipation of the couplet and it's legalese. The point is that human love is not as Divine Love, constant, that true minds are seldom as true as they would like to believe themselves, or have others believe them.

That is why it is necessary to treat marriage, whatever we may think of the parties so conjoined, as a sacrament . . . even if one of them is a complete jackass.

Columbia Journalism Review’s Limited Modified Hangout on Breitbart, #Weinergate

The dead enders are being dead-endy, but the truly sophisticated leftists know that they have to make some concessions to Weiner's forced confession, so this is the game they play:

The theme of many reports today then is that Breitbart, vilified as a composer of scoops rather than a reporter of them in the wake of Shirley Sherrod, is looking for apologies from the open left and some R-E-S-P-E-C-T from the M-S-M. He’s getting a little bit of it from the Times today in a balanced report titled “Andrew Breitbart, Conservative Blogger, Looks for Legitimacy.” And Politico has a main-page item headlined, “Andrew Breitbart’s day of vindication.” “In Andrew Breitbart’s up-and-down career as a conservative agitator, it doesn’t get any better than this,” write Keach Hagey and Kenneth P. Vogel, before describing the surreal Breitbart-Weiner presser.

They’re probably right. But both stories remind us of the checkered reportorial history that led reporters to view this latest scandal skeptically and to consistently view Breitbart himself suspiciously. You will recall the misleadingly edited video of a speech by USDA worker Shirley Sherrod, which showed Sherrod apparently bragging that she had discriminated against white farmers. An unedited version showed she had been making a speech about racial harmony. And you will recall that James O’Keefe’s ACORN video had suggested O’Keefe dressed as a pimp to go undercover at ACORN offices. He had not. The content of the videos remained disturbing, but the deception quickly became legend.

Breitbart may legitimately feel burned and now vindicated with how Weinergate has played out. And the media may need to address the way it treats scandals on the left and right. But it would be foolish not to acknowledge that there was reason to view anything that came from Mr. Big with some suspicion. He is the man who has cried “liberal scandal” too many times before.

Is it really so hard, for example, to credit Breitbart's version of the Sherrod affair--that he received only the part of the video that showed her making the admission that initially she hadn't wanted to help the white farmer, with the reaction of the assembled? I mean, is it so hard, considering the contortionist braintwists one had to adopt in order to credit Weiner's constantly morphing tale?

Was the ACORN story really about whether or not O'Keefe was wearing his pimp gear when he went into the offices, or that ACORN staff advised him how to skirt the law and the IRS in establishing his underaged illegal alien whorehouse operation? Is the story of Weinergate really, as Alex Pareene says, about Sarah Palin's version of Paul Revere's midnight ride? Have the MSM and the CJR really done any groundbreaking investigation into the massive fraud of Pigford?

Oddly enough, nowhere in Joel Meares' piece is there any consideration of whether or not all those media operations that spun and prevaricated for Weiner lost any credibility. Because, you know, they really do solid reporting.

RIP Patty Ann [UPDATE: Funeral Arrangements, &ct]

UPDATE: Ace has the details about the funeral arrangements and memorial donations. [Clarification: Andy at AoSHQ]

As Dan reminded me yesterday in the thread asking for prayers for BJ Texeira, Patty Ann, a member of "The Hostages" family and longtime doyenne of the internet, was herself still struggling with a life threatening surgical complication and in dire need of our prayers as well.

Alas, I heard this morning that she passed away during the night.  As far as I know, in her last moments she was awake and being comforted by a friend who read her the 23rd psalm.  She has gone to be with the Lord, His will be done...

Pray for the loved ones she leaves here on Earth. May God grant them His mercy, strength, comfort, and peace in their time of grief. And may He reassure them that in the fullness of time, they too will join Him and their beloved Patty Ann in Your kingdom, where all will be together forever.

Patty Ann was a lovely woman who was always witty, cheerful, and kind. And she will surely be missed. I can't help but get the feeling that, if at all possible, heaven will be a little brighter today because she's joined it's ranks.

Godspeed Patty Ann.

Dan's comment:

Thanks to Ace for the kind remembrance and the link.

Alex Pareene: Weiner Mishandled; Look, Sarah Palin!

ROFL!

Alex Pareene, last seen accusing Michele Bachmann of being anti-Catholic on the basis of her being Lutheran, plays Monday Morning Quarterback for Anthony Weiner.

He should have handled it with integrity. Because it's all about Sarah Palin. What desperate trash.

@joanwalsh tweets that people shouldn't selectively retweet what she says. RT doesn't mean endorsement. Ask Andrew Breitbart.

TMZ: Weiner tutored pr0n star in art of deception.

Congressman Anthony Weiner instructed one of his Internet women how to lie about their relationship ... and even offered PR help from his team, which could create major legal issues for him ... TMZ has learned.

Weiner and former porn star Ginger Lee exchanged scores of sexual emails over a long period of time. When the underwear scandal broke on May 28, Lee began receiving calls from the media, and Weiner was more than happy to help her control the situation ... by lying.

On June 2, Weiner emailed Lee, "Do you need to talk to a professional PR type person to give u advice? I can have someone on my team call. [Yeah, my team is doing great. Ugh]."

What Sarah Palin (and her detractors) got wrong.

LOL: Breitbart Didn’t Realize He Was On a Live Feed

Yesterday, Andrew Breitbart's arrival at the hotel where Weiner was to give his presser caused Weiner's staff to run down the hallways in a panic, shouting, "He's here." Aided by Weiner's tardiness, Breitbart gave a pre-emptive presser to the assembled gaggle. But here's the background:

Andrew Breitbart, who broke the Anthony Weiner sex scandal story, says he had no idea he was on live television Monday when he spoke to reporters about the investigation into the lewd photos sent from Weiner’s Twitter account. Breitbart also said on Fox News that he feels vindicated by the New York congressman’s confession.

“First of all, I had no idea that I was live on television. I arrived in New York at a hotel, five blocks away,” Breitbart said. “So, I just walked five blocks, walked into the ballroom. And a gaggle of reporters surrounded me about 40 or 50 of them and they started asking me questions. And they said they couldn’t hear me.”

Breitbart told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that he was asked to get on the stage.

“And I thought that they meant get on the stage because the microphone could, you know, make my voice louder, because I’ve had a cold over the last week,” he said. “So, I went up there, I had no idea that I would be talking to a live audience. I only found out afterwards.”

Luck is largely a matter of making the effort to be in the right place at the right time. Reminds me a little of how he stumbled into the Pigford story.

Jeff Dunetz does some great analysis.

At the Washington Post, Obama's lies about the Chrysler payback:

The White House justifies not counting the Bush money because, it says, that money was completely spent when Obama was making a tough political decision on whether to extend another loan. In other words, a decision to do nothing at the time would have resulted in the immediate loss of the $4 billion that Bush had extended.

This is chicanery. Under the president’s math, Chrysler paid back 100 percent of Obama’s loan and less than 70 percent of Bush’s loan. A more honest presentation would combine the two figures to say U.S. taxpayers got back 90 percent of what they invested. In fact, that is how the Treasury and other administration officials frequently portray it; it is just when Obama speaks that the numbers get so squishy.

Last week, I noted that Google was taking a big risk by dropping Chrome support for rival browsers. Mozilla has just responded to that challenge:

With Google's fleet of Chromebooks making their way to market, Mozilla Labs has decided to release a similarly browser-based desktop interface, known as the Webian Shell. As of now, the prototype app consists of a screen-encompassing web browser, which essentially replaces your desktop interface. There's an address bar running across the top of the screen, a clock in the bottom right corner, and a tab button for all your web apps. Developed as part of the company's Mozilla Chromeless project, the tool was written entirely in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and, unlike Chrome OS, is designed to run on top of existing operating systems, rather than replace them.

I like and use a lot of Google products, but . . . I hope they fail.

AP: Andrew Breitbart is just a jumped up, blackmailing blogger, and we are an objective news source.

Obama's bin Laden dead cat bounce is WAY over.

Stacy at American Spectator: Weiner's Digital Disgrace.

If you prefer your news round-up wienerless, Jimmie Bise is the go-to guy today.

Pundette's not finished with Weiner, yet.

Question: Does the free phone sex count as an in-kind contribution? These laws are so slippery.

UPDATE: Marcia Kramer requested Andrew take the podium.

Global Warming: IPCC Models Have No Predictive Value

From C3:

Read here. The IPCC and all the alarmist climate scientists/pundits base their catastrophic global warming predictions on the output of a handful of climate models. They present the models' predictions and forecasts as evidence to policymakers that action must be immediately taken to curb human CO2 emissions, or else "the world will end as we know it."

Hansen Model vs Reality April 2011 While presenting climate models' forecasts as gospel, there is ample real world evidence that the models are terrible at climate predictions, be they global temperature predictions or other climate condition forecasts (eg., sea-level, snow-pack predictions).

A new study by experts confirms what the majority of scientists are now reluctantly admitting: the IPCC climate models are worthless when used for future climate prognostications.

A couple of years ago, I Hate the Media posted this compilation of climate alarmist predictions (excerpt) from the first Earth Day, in 1970:

“We have about five more years at the outside to do something.”
• Kenneth Watt, ecologist

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
• George Wald, Harvard Biologist

“We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.”
• Barry Commoner, Washington University biologist

“Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”
• New York Times editorial, the day after the first Earth Day

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation.”
• Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day

Ehrlich went on to co-author a book with Obama's Science Czar, Holdren, and has been a keen advocate of forced sterilization.

Screw these bastards, anyway.

My friend Mircea and a Romanian buddy of his are sailing the Bahamas in a 26-footer. You can read about their adventures here.

Andrew Lawton has written a very brave piece about his suicide attempt. Even he doesn't quite understand what caused it. Very much recommend you read it, and follow @andrewlawton on Twitter.

So . . . what do you think was the real Weiner money shot from yesterday's presser? UPDATE: NPR may have it. Their comparison to Gerald Studds is interesting, particularly from the name POV.

Politico uses Breitbart's victory as an opportunity to try to undermine him. Pretend objectivity.

Austan Goolsbee blows. But you knew that.

Chief Lizard one of many lefties who won't apologize to Breitbart. No surprise.

Donald Douglas is among those who believe Weiner should resign. I expressed my opinion on that yesterday.

At Nuclear Chicago, Tom Bennett discusses Blago's disgusting holding of a $10 million grant to Chicago Children's Hospital hostage to a $25k campaign donation, and makes the case for just why it's essential that Rezko testify . . . if, you know, this really is about cleaning up corruption.

Via Wombat-Socho:

Claire Nini, now 25, was sexually assaulted as a teenager, and it took her seven years to file a complaint, she said, “because I feared the notoriety of my assailant, a well-known doctor in Nice.”

But the furor around the arrest in New York on attempted rape charges of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who had been considered a likely next president of France, has given Frenchwomen and the modest feminist movement here a chance to speak out against sexual oppression and push for a less chauvinistic relationship between the sexes.

“I hope this is going to help the victims to speak,” Ms. Nini said. “If D.S.K.,” the initials by which Mr. Strauss-Kahn is known here, “is really guilty, I think this affair is going to help women,” she said. But if he is found not guilty, she said, “there is a risk that women will not be taken seriously anymore.”

Mr. Strauss-Kahn, the former chief of the International Monetary Fund, was arraigned on Monday in New York and pleaded not guilty to all charges, a four-minute event covered live by the main French television channels, Web sites and bloggers. There were experts and court drawings and shots of uniformed hotel workers shouting, “Shame on you!”

The case has also sharpened the debate here about a French way of life, one of tolerance for a male-centric attitude in gender relations, an acceptance of all but the most egregious sexual assaults on women and a reluctance by the authorities to intervene, particularly in cases involving the powerful.

Stacy's got all the Yub Nub you need here, but I find that song gives me a headache.

Weinergate: The Afterglow; also, Buttsexting

Charles Johnson responds. Via @jammiewf

In hindsight, Joan Walsh tweeted nothing at all about it.

Via Ace, the guy who proved beyond doubt that Weiner's yfrog account was hacked claims total vindication. Just browse the posts for a laugh.

From Tweet Watch Report:

RadarOnline still revealing Weiner's Sexting Six and their stories.

Oh, what else. Um, Chris Matthews says something really dumb . . . I'm sure there's stuff that I'm missing.

All of this has been very diverting, but nothings really funnier than buttsexting. I mean, a lot has been written about butt dialing, but it seems like there's at least a long essay in the subject of buttsexting.

Our pal BJTex and his family urgently need your prayers.

An internet friend of many here at POWIP, and occasional contributor, B.J. Texeira has suffered a serious setback in his life; he's had a recurrence of the glioblastoma he had removed last fall.  Indeed, he's undergoing surgery today at the University of Pennsylvania.

His doctors are confident that they'll be able to remove the new growth without harming B.J.'s surrounding brain tissue.  Our Pal Danger Dave spoke to him on the telephone, and reports that he's confident and in overall good spirits.  BJ has promised to let us know the outcome of today's surgery ASAP.

Until then, I'd ask that all of you who are so inclined please remember Brian and his family in your prayers.  I'll start:

Loving Father,

Please watch over, protect, and have mercy on Your son Brian.  Heal him Lord, either by Your hand directly, or through the graces You provide to his caregivers.  Also grace his family with all of the strength, courage, and reassurances they need in this time of trial. We trust in Your loving kindness and mercy, ask that Your will be done, and that we may play the role You created each of us for.

In Jesus name.
