Things Fall Apart

You remember the novel about Okonkwo, the tribal bigwig in Africa who watches his world fall apart at the touch of Western influence, in the form of Christian missionaries, who arrive in his village and set about to civilize it. Well, Eowyn has the story of the revenge of the multiculturalists:

Last week in San Francisco, a “Progressive” college professor pleaded guilty to charges of having sexually abused raped a 13-month-old baby — with the mother’s consent and facilitation — and was sentenced to federal prison for a term of at least 30 years.

Only, you know, Okonkwo was a conservative in the technical sense of the term. Even those whom some view as primitives have hard and fast taboos against baby rape. Not so much truly liberated minds, like this guy's.

I mean, we've got alleged maid rape by the former chief of the IMF, whom the French intelligentsia liked to think of as the Great Seducer, rather than the Great Molester. His buddy's implicated in something to do with an orgy of boys in Morocco. The guy's response?

"I don't want to get involved in these stories for now. I will speak in due course....This case is sadly trivial. Vulgarity is part of our world. All those who question my honour - newspapers and individuals - will be all be prosecuted."

Remember Ira "The Unicorn" Einhorn?

All of these ubermenschen, all of these saviors . . . they're not bound by the same rules as the rest of us. They are destined to accuse, not to be accused. They are exonerated, they are entitled because, in the big picture, their values are superior to other people's.

Rope was a prophecy.
